Who Needs the Kwik-E-Mart? I Do!

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Whoa, did you read some of the stuff I read? Man, did I sound depressed. Comic-Con does beat you up, that much is sure. But it’s still a pretty good show and a pretty good place to be. And, stuff that I may have wrote that sounded dark sounded better if you heard me say [...]

Saturday Night Fever

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

Comic-Con is a squirrely beast. Today was projected to be the biggest day of the show. The ticket sales for today sold out weeks ago. And, following the brilliant clear logic of Comic-Con, it was the slowest day so far. There are lots of reasons why this could be. Maybe Comic-Con panicked and clamped down [...]

The Light at the Middle of the Tunnel

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

My last two posts have been kind of depressing, I know. I’m sure you’re wondering, as I often am, why I keep doing this koo-koo-crazy-comic thing. It’s because of days like today. The show was nowhere near as bad. I sat behind my booth most of the day, scooting out only to buy a Blue [...]

Maybe I Can Cast a Patronus

Friday, July 27th, 2007

Ah, Day Two. Or, actually, day one. Comic-Con is starting to remind me of Azkaban Prison in the Harry Potter novels. A place patroled by the ghostly Dementors who seem to drain the life out of people, making them feel “as if they’d never know happiness or joy again.” Now, the obvious question is “Why [...]

Now It's Just The Pre-Show

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

I don’t want to overstate this, but this con may be the death of me. I mean it may actually be listed as Cause of Death on my death certificate. “Death by Comic-Con.” And tonight was just the preview night. Things started off decently enough. Out booth looked to be double-sized yesterday, which was what [...]

San Diego Pre-Pre Show

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

I’m off on my annual California pilgrimage. I’ve bored you in past posts about how much I hate flying out of the Cleveland Municipal Bus Station, and this time was no exception. The San Diego trip is such a pain, too, because I have to bring so much stuff for my booth. And I always [...]

Harry Potter was really Keyser Soze? Did Not See That Coming.

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

Just kidding. I finished it this afternoon. After what I wrote before, don’t worry, I won’t spoil anything. In fact, I’ve carefully thought everything out so that I won’t accidentally reveal anything. I know if a fan of the Potter books is reading this that the littlest thing means something and something I’d think is [...]

No Spoilers Here

Friday, July 20th, 2007

No, I haven’t read it yet. I just felt like venting about spoilers in general. I got an e-mail from my friend Mike saying that some news outlets were revealing some plot points from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I know JK Rowling is upset about the early review in the New York Times. [...]

Freaky Friday Buzzboy!

Friday, July 20th, 2007

If it’s Friday, it must be Buzzboy time. This page is pretty cool, I think. I did some things coloring the borders black to try to get the more serious, somber tone across, as well as trying some different things with shadow and tone and I think it worked pretty nicely. Click it and see.

Zappity-zap! Don't Talk Back!

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

Yet another Buzzboy page, and I think it turned out pretty well. This one was done in the morning, as opposed to the last one. The Indians played yesterday afternoon, if you can call losing to Chicago the way they did "playing", so I wasn’t working to the Tribe. Speaking of Chicago, I’ve mentioned once [...]
