A Driver Don't Pick the Car

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

I managed to crank one last page out before the New Year, and my New Year’s trip to Las Vegas. Yay, me. This should be the last page of the Christmas Eve party at Mark’s parents. The next page will be the transition, and then on to Abby’s where Mark plans to ask Abby to [...]

Village of Timberlake on YouTube

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

Someone named “Eggcheese” made a video of the great Village of Timberlake. It shows off some of the coolness that is my town. I laughed at the shot of the stairs (and, as a Councilman, let me tell you we’re working on that). The one safety taped piece of playground equipment has been fixed, though.

Nice Suit…John Phillips, London… I Hear Arafat Gets His There

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

This page went a lot easier than the ones before. Maybe that whole rushing the cover thing helped get me running. Or maybe it’s that both jokes were pretty easy to write. Here, Mark tells his Dad that he’s going to ask Abby to marry him. It’s nice to write the heartwarming scenes. And the [...]

Of Course You Did, You Saucy Minx You

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

I know what you’re thinking: He worked on Christmas? Hells, no. I actually did this the Sunday before, but then there was the whole late cover thing and that took precedence over everything else, so I posted it first. This is page six, which I’m very happy but took almost as much effort as page [...]

So If You Believe in Christmas, Come On and Let It Snow

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

I’m sure this has become an annual thing, but I just love Christmas. Christmas Eve especially. In 2003, I’d just moved into the House That Meredith Bought when my Mom suggested that we have Christmas Eve at my house. My house having the virtue of being clean, I guess. I told her it was fine [...]

We'll Skip Lunch

Monday, December 24th, 2007

Nothing like a little pressure. My buddy Mike Manley posted his fantastic cover for a TwoMorrows Free Comic Book Day issue. I thought it was cool, but asked "Why did you have to get it done so early?" Turns out, it was due on Thursday. I’m pretty sure that, especially with the holiday, getting it [...]

A Little Early This Year

Friday, December 21st, 2007

I got my confirmation from Comic-Con that I’ll be back this year, same place as before, booth 2000. It’s nice to have that taken care of early.

Incidentally…

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

I’ve hit 400 posts since I started the Thom Zahler Weblog 2.0! Actually, this is #402. I forgot to check when I posted #400, which was the “Hey Baby It’s Cold Outside” post. But if you want to celebrate the big number four-zero-zero, the Santa Helperette cartoon is available for purchase over at my Commissions [...]

Legen… wait for it… dary!

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Some pages come easily. And some pages are page five. There are two kinds of Love and Capes strips. There are the joke ones, where they joke is written first, and then there are the plot ones. Okay, technically, there are the serious beats, too, but those are essentially the same as the jokes in [...]

Hey Baby It's Cold Outside

Monday, December 17th, 2007

I am done Christmas shopping. Not that I mind Christmas shopping… I actually like it quite a lot. I’m often trapped in my 8×20 foot studio, battling the demons of art and design by myself. So spending time with the huddled masses of humanity is kind of fun. Yeah, I’m sick, I know. There’s still [...]
