A Hard Day's Night

This page was the hardest page in the book, hands down. Many pieces of Bothan tracing paper died to bring it to you. Usually it takes 2-3 sheets to get the pencils to the point I transfer them to final. This one was well over six.

Why? Well, getting three characters to all sit on the same plane isn’t as easy at it sounds. Especially when Mark is so tall compared to Abby and Charlotte.

You’ll also notice that Charlotte’s wearing something on her shirt. I’ve taken great effort (and pride) in dressing the ladies better and better as the series goes on. I don’t know much about women’s clothing except that I generally like it off. Guys have Shirts and Pants and that’s just about it. Women, though, have a plethora of choices. I’ve been haunting the Rachel Pally, Gap, Hollister and Express sites trying to get ideas to make sure they’re dressing better.

So I gave Charlotte a jersey that called out for some sort of screenprinted logo. You can barely see it in this panel, admittedly, but she’s wearing it in the whole page. It says "Oil Can Drive", which is the brainchild of my good friend Sean Tiffany. It’s part comic, part rock band, and all kinds of cool. If you get the chance, check it out. You’ll be glad you did.

The rest of the day was pretty weird, but I don’t want to jinx the one thing, and I’m not ready to write about the second yet. So, just know that it was a Day of Many Things, all of them good. I’ll share as soon as I can.
